The Ultimate Dominance of the Deen is a Fact
Allah (swt) says:-
“So do not become weak nor grieve and you will be uppermost [aa’aloon] if you are believers.” (aali I’mraan 3:139)
“It is He who sent his messenger with the Truth and Guidance so that it may prevail over all the ways of life even if the mushrikoon detest it.” (at Tawbah 9:33 & as Saff 61:9)
“It is He who sent his messenger with the Truth and Guidance so that it may prevail over all the ways of life and all sufficient is Allah for a Witness.” (al Fath 48:28)
“[For] Allah has thus ordained: ‘I shall most certainly prevail, I and My Messengers!’ Verily, Allah is Qaweeun, A’zeez!” (al Mujaadilah 58:21)
“And many a prophet fought and along with him large bands ribbiyyoon (religious learned men). But they never lost heart for that which did befall them in the Way of Allah nor did they weaken nor degrade themselves. And Allah loves the patient. And they said nothing but ‘Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions establish our feet firmly and give us victory over the disbelieving people.’ So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the excellent reward of the hereafter. And Allah loves the muhsineen.” (aali I’mraan 3:146-148)
“Whoever desires i’zzah (honour, power) then all i’zzah belongs to Allah. To Him ascend the goodly words and the righteous actions exalt it but those who plot evil [yamkuroona sayyiaa’t], theirs will be the severe torment. And the plotting [makru] of such will perish.” (Faatir 35:10)
Taaifah Zaahireen a’lal Haqq (Always a group from the Ummah manifest upon the Path of Truth)
No.1 - I’mraan bin Husayn reported that Nabi (saw) said “There will not cease to be a taai’fah from my ummah, fighting upon the truth (al Haqq) manifest (zaahireen) over those who fight (qaataluhum) them until the last of them will fight al Masseeha ad Dajjal.” (ABU DAWOOD, WAALI UD DEEN TABREEZI in ‘Mishkaatul Masaabih’)

No.3 - Al Mugheerah bin Shu’bah reported that Nabi (saw) said “A taai’fah from my ummah will remain manifest (zaahireen) the Order of Allah comes when they are still manifest (zaahiroon).” (BUKHAARI [eng/Arabic vol.9 no.414])
No.4 - Humayd said ‘I heard Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyaan delivering a khutbah. He said ‘I heard Nabi (saw) saying “If Allah desires good for someone He bestows on him understanding of the deen. I am but a distributor and Allah is the giver. The state of this ummah will remain straight (mustaqeeman) until the Hour is established or until the Order of Allah comes.” (BUKHAARI [eng/Arabic vol.9 no.415])
No.5 - Muawiyah reported that Nabi (sw) said “If Allah desires good for someone He bestows on him understanding of the deen. And Allah is the giver (Al Mu’ti) and I am the distributor (al Qaasim) and this ummah will reain manifest (zaahireen) over those who differ with them until the command of Allah comes and they are still manifest (zaahiroon).” (BUKHAARI [Eng/Arabic vol.4 no.346])
No.6 - Muawiyah reported that nabi (saw) said “If Allah desires good for someone, He bestows on him understanding of the deen. I am but a distributor and Allah is the giver. This ummah will be straight (qaai’mah) upon the command of Allah and will not be harmed by those who differ until there comes the command of Allah.” (BUKHAARI [Eng/Arabic vol.1 no.71])
No.7 - Thawbaan reported that nabi (saw) said “There will not cease to be a taai’fah from my ummah manifest (zaahireen) upon the truth (al Haqq). They will not be harmed by those who desert them until there comes the Command of Allah and they will continue to be in this position.” MUSLIM added ‘In Qutaybah’s version of the hadeeth, there does not occur the phrase “…they will contiune to be in that position.” (MUSLIM kitaabul Imaarah [no.4715])
No.8 - Mugheerah reported that Nabi (saw) said “There will continue to be a people (qawm) from my ummah manifest (zaahireen) over the people until there comes the command of Allah while they are still manifest (zaahireen).” (MUSLIM kitaabul Imaarah [no.4716])
No.9 - Jaabir bin Samurah reported that Nabi (saw) said “This deen will not cease to exist, there will continue to be an i’saabah from the Muslims fighting until the hour is established.” (MUSLIM kitaabul Imaarah [no.4717])
No.10 - Jaabir bin A’bdullah reported that Nabi (saw) said “There will not cease to be a taai’fah from my ummah fight for the truth manifest until Yawmil Qiyaamah.” (MUSLIM kitaabul Imaarah [no.4718])
No.11 - Umayr bin Umm Haani said ‘I heard Muawiyah while on the minbar say ‘I heard rasool Allah (saw) say “There will not cease to be a taai’fah from my ummah straight (or established) [qaai’mah] upon the command of Allah, they will not be harmed by those who desert them or differ with them until there comes the command of Allah while they are still manifest (zaahiroon) over the people.” (MUSLIM kitaabul Imaarah [no.4719])
No.12 - Yazeed bin Asam related that he heard Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyaan quote a hadeeth from Nabi (saw), and he did not hear him quote from Nabi (saw) any other hadeeth than this in the course of his sermon from the minbar, Rasool Allah (saw) said “Whomsoever Allah desires good for He bestows upon him understanding in the deen and there will not cease to be an i’saabah from the muslimeen fighting upon the truth (al Haqq) manifest (zaahireen) over their enemies (naawaahum) until yawmil Qiyaamah.” (MUSLIM kitaabul Imaarah [no.4720])
No.13 - A’bdur Rahman bin Shamaasa al Mahri said ‘I was in the company Muslama bin Mukhallid and A’bdullah bin A’ru bin al A’ss was with him. A’bdullah said ‘The Hour shall only come when the worst type of people are left on the earth, they will be worse than the people of jaahileeyah. hey will get whatever they ask of Allah.’ While we were still sitting U’qbah bin Aa’mir came and Maslama said to him ‘U’qbah listen to what A’bdullah says’ U’qbah said ‘He knows better, as far as I am concerned, I heard rasool Allah (saw) saying “There will not cease to be an i’saabah from my ummah fighting upon the command of Allah dominant (qaahireen) over their enemies (a’duwwuhum), they will not be harmed by those who differ with them until there comes the Hour and they will still be upon that.” A’bdullah said ‘Yes. Then Allah will raise a wind which will be fragrant like musk and whose touch will be like the touch of silk, it will cause the death of all people, not leaving behind a single person with a grain of imaan in his heart. Then only the worst of men will remain to be overwhelmed by the Hour.’ (MUSLIM kitaabul Imaarah no.4271]) This is an indication that the correct path is not characterised by vast numbers as the classical scholar of the Arabic language, Ibn Manzoor said concerning the word ‘i’saabah’ it represents a small number ‘between ten to forty’ (‘Lisaanul A’rab)
No.14 - S’ad bin Abi Waqqaas reported that Rasool Allah (saw) said “The people of the west (ahlul gharb) will not cease to be manifest (zaahireen) upon the truth (al haqq) until the establishment of the Hour.” (MUSLIM kitaabul Imaarah [no. 4272])
No.15 - Jaabir bin A’bdullah reported that Nabi (saw) said “There will not cease to be a taai’fah from my ummah fighting upon the truth (al Haqq) manifest (zaahireen) until Yawmil Qiyaamah.” He (saw) said “I’sa ibn Maryam would descend and their ameer would come and invite him to lead the prayer but he would say ‘No, some amongst you are ameers over others’ This is the honour from Allah for this ummah.” (MUSLIM kitaabul Imaan [no.293])
No.16 – A’miru bin Shua’yb reports his father saying ‘Mua’wiyyah got for delivering a khutbah and said ‘Where are your u’lemaa’, where are your u’lemaa’?’ I heard rasool Allah (saw) saying “The Hour will not be established except that a taai’fah from my ummah will continue to be manifest (zaahiroon) over the people. They will neither care about (those people who) desert them and nor (those that) help (nasrahum) them.” (IBN MAAJAH [vol.1 no.9])
No.17 Thawbaan reported that Rasool Allah (saw) said “There will not cease to be a taai’fah from my ummah upon the truth [al haqq] manifest [zaahireen] they will not be harmed by those who desert them them until there comes to them the command of Allah.” (TIRMIDHI kitaabul Fitan and he said ‘hasan – saheeh’)
No.18 - Thawbaan reports that Rasool Allah (saw) said “The earth was contracted for me until I saw its East and its West and I was given two treasures al Asfar (or al Ahmar) and al Abayd (i.e. gold and silver) and I was told your dominion (Mulk) is to extend to that which the earth was contracted for you’ And I begged Allah a’zza wa jall three times not to make hunger dominate over my ummah and not to destroy them altogether by it, not to bring about schism (shee’an) among them and cause them to taste the fighting of one another’ It was said to me ‘When I pass judgement it is irresistible and irrevocable and verily I will not dominate a famine over your ummah that should destroy them and I will not muster (their enemies) from all directions of the earth against them till some of you will fight with others and some of them will kill one another. And when the swords will be drawn out in my people they will never be removed from them until Yawmil Qiyaamah and that which I fear most upon my ummah are the misguiding Imaams (aa’immatan mudilleen) and certain tribes of my ummah will join with the mushrikeen (and follow them) and near the Last Hour about thirty about thirty liars and dajjals will appear everyone of them claiming to be a prophet and there will not cease to be a taai’fah from my ummah upon the truth, supported [mansooreen]. They will not be harmed by those who oppose (khaalafahum) them until there comes the command of Allah a’zza wa jall.” Abu’l Hasan said ‘When Abu A’bdullah completed this hadeeth he said ‘How horrible is this’ (IBN MAAJAH kitaabul Fitan [no.3952]) and in a similar version from Thawbaan “…And there will not cease to be a taai’fah from my ummah upon the truth (ABU DAWOOD said in the version of Ibn I’sa “…manifest [zaahireen]…”) they will not be harmed by those who oppose them until there comes the command of Allah ta’ala.” (ABU DAWOOD kitaabul Fitan wal Malaahim [vol.3 no.4239])
Return of Khilaafah A’la Minhaaj an Naboowah
Allah (swt) says, “Allah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous actions, that He will certainly grant them succession in the earth (layastakhlifannahum fil Ard) as He granted succession (istikhlaaf) to those before them and that he will grant them the power to their deen (wa layumakkinanna lahum deenahum) , that which He has chosen for them. And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (wa layubaddilannahum min ba’di khawfihim amnaan), they worship Me and do not associate anything with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this they are the faasiqoon.” (an Noor 24:55)
Imaam al Qurtubi [d.671 h. MAALIKI ] said in his tafseer ‘Al Jaami’ li Ahkaamul Quran’ “It is correct to say that the verse applies to the ummah of Muhammad in general, for the specification does not take place unless the conveyor (that is, Nabi [saw]) informs us about it, and what is known to be the rule is to always adhere to the generality” Imaam ash Shawkaani [d. 1250 h.] said in his tafseer ‘Fathul Qadeer’ “This is a promise from Allah to those who believed in Allah and performed right actions, that He will grant them authority over the whole world as He did grant it to previous nations. The promise applies to the whole of the ummah, it has been claimed (by some) that the promise was specific to the sahaabah, but there is no evidence to prove this claim, for the belief (imaan) and right actions (a’milus saalihaat) is not restricted to (applying to) the sahaabah but it is open (to apply) to every individual among the ummah.”
Nu’maan reported on the authority of Hudhayfah ibn al Yaman that that Nabi (saw) "Prophethood will remain among you as long as Allah wishes it to remain, then Allah Most High will remove it. Then there will be a khilaafah upon the method of the prophethood as long as Allah wishes it to remain, then Allah Most High will remove it. Then there will be a distressful kingdom (mulkiyyah) which will remain as long as Allah wishes it to remain, then Allah Most High will remove it. Then there will be a proud kingdom which will remain as long as Allah wishes it to remain, then Allah Most High will remove it. Then there will be a khilaafah upon the method of the prophethood (a’la minhaajan Naboowah)." Then he stopped. Habib said: "When Umar ibn AbdulAziz became khaleefah I wrote to him, mentioning this tradition to him and saying, "I hope you will be the commander of the faithful after the distressful and the proud kingdoms." It pleased and charmed him, i.e. Umar ibn AbdulAziz." (TIRMIDHI [no.5378] BAYHAQI in ‘Dalaa’il an Naboowah’ AHMAD from Nu’man bin Basheer [vol.4 p.273] AT TAYAALISI, AL BAZZAR, AT TABARAANI, DAARIMI)
Nabi (saw) is reported by Miqdad Ibn al Aswad to have said “This affair will reach everything reached by night and day and there will not remain a single house of mud or hair which Allah will not cause this deen to enter, whether by the might of a mighty man or the humility of a humble man, a might by which Allah will exalt Islam and a humility by which He will humiliate kufr.” (AHMAD, TABARAANI, HAAKIM, IBN HIBBAAN)
Thawbaan reported that Nabi (saw) said “Verily Allah has cornered the earth for me so I saw its eastern and its western parts. And verily the authority of my ummah will reach the parts of the earth which have been shown to me.” (MUSLIM, ABU DAWOOD [no.4252], IBN MAAJAH [no.2952], TIRMIDHI, AHMAD, AL HAAKIM [4/479])
Jaabir reported that Nabi (saw) said, “Among the last generation of my ummah there will be a khaleefah who will scatter the money without counting it.” (MUSLIM, AHMAD)
Thawbaan reported that Nabi (saw) said “Three men will be killed at a plce where your treasure is. Each of them will be a son of a khaleefah, and none of them will get hold of the treasure. Then the black banners will come out of the east, and they will slaughter you in a way which has never been seen before” Then he (saw) said something which I do not remember then he said “If you see him go and give him your baya’ah, even if you have to crawl over ice, because he is the khaleefah of Allah, the Mahdi.” (IBN MAAJAH [no.4084])
Umm Salamah reported that Nabi (saw) said “People will begin to differ after the death of a khaleefah. A man from the people of Madeenah will flee to Makkah. Some of the people of Makkah will come to him and drag him out against his will, they will give baya’ah to him between ar Rukn and al Maqaam. An army will be sent against him from Syria, it will be swallowed up in the desert between Makkah and Madeenah. When the people see this, groups of people from Syria and Iraq will come and give him baya’ah. Then a man from Quraysh whose mother is from Kalb will appear and send an army against them, and will defeat them, this will be known as the battle of Kalb. Whoever does not miss the spoils of this battle will miss much! The Mahdi will distribute the wealth and will rule the people according to the sunnah of the prophet (saw). Then he will die and the Muslims will pray for him.” (ABU DAWOOD)
Abu Umaamah said ‘The messenger of Allah (sw) spoke to us and mentioned the dajjaal and said “Madeenah expels corruption as the bellows expel the impurities of iron” He called that day “The Day of purification” Umm Sharik asked ‘Where will the Arabs be on that day, rasool Allah?’ He (saw) said “They will be few on that day. Most of them will be in al Quds and their Imaam will be the Mahdi, a righteous man…” (AL HAAKIM, IBN KHUZAYMAH, ABU NUA’YM, IBN MAAJAH [no.4077])
Abu Yusuf reported that A’bdullah ibn A’mru said “People will perform hajj together and gather without an Imaam. While they are camped they will be afflicted by something like rabies. The tribes will attack one another and fight until A’qabah runs with blood. They will turn to the best man of them and go to him while he is pressing his face to the Ka’ab weeping, I can visualise his tears, and they’ll say ‘Come and let us give baya’ah to you.’ He will say “Woe to you! How many treaties you have broken and how much blood you have shed!’ But he will be forced to accept their baya’ah. If you meet him give him your baya’ah. He is the Mahdi on earth and the Mahdi in heaven.’ (AL HAAKIM)
Thawbaan reported that rasool Allah (saw) said “When you see the black banners coming from Khurrasaan, then go to them even if that means crawling over snow. The khaleefah of Allah, the Mahdi will be among them.” (HAAKIM, AD DAANI, AS SUYOOTI)
A’li reported that rasool Allah (saw) said “A man will emerge from Transoxiana Al Harith ibn al Harrath, in whose vanguard there will be a man called Mansoor who will prepare the way for and empower the family of Muhammad (saw) as Quraysh empowered the messenger of Allah (saw). It is obligatory for every believer to help him (or respond to him).” (ABU DAWOOD, AN NASAA’I, AL BAYHAQI)
The Promise of Divine Help and Victory
Allah (swt) says:-
“Verily, We shall indeed help/give victory to Our Messengers and those who believe, [both] in this world’s life and on the Day when all the witnesses shall stand up.” (Ghaafir 40:51)
“When the Help of Allah comes and the conquest and you see the people enter the deen of Allah in large numbers” (an Nasr :1-2)
“Truly Allah defends those who believe. Verily Allah likes not any treacherous ingrate. Permission to fight is given to those who are fighting them, because they have been oppressed and surely, Allah is able to give them victory. Those who have been expelled from their homes unjustly only because they said ‘Our Lord is Allah’ For had it not been that Allah checks one set of people by means of another monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques wherein the name of Allah is mentioned much would surely have been pulled down. Verily, Allah will help those who help His (cause). Truly Allah is Qawiun A’zeez.”(al-Hajj 22:38-40)
“O you who believe! Be you helpers (ansaar) of Allah as said I’sa ibn Maryam, to the huwaariyoon: ‘Who are my helpers (in the cause) of Allah?’ The huwaariyoon said ‘We are Allah’s helpers’ Then a group of the children of Israeel believed and a group disbelieved. So we gave power to those who believed against their enemies, and they became the uppermost.” (as Saff 61:14)
“Or do you think that you will enter paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said ‘When (will be) the Help of Allah?’ But verily the Help of Allah is near.”(al Baqarah 2:214)
Ubay bin Abi Ka’b reported that Nabi (saw) said “Bring glad tidings to this ummah that it will have the power, the pride, the deen, the victory on the earth. So he who worked to reap the rewards in this life rather than the hereafter he woul have no reward in the hereafter.” (AHMAD [5/114])
In the Musral hadeeth from Hasan it is reported that Rasool Allah (saw) said “Whoever meets death while is search of knowledge to revive Islam, there will be only one degree in Paradise between him and the prophets.” (DAARIMI, Mishkaat [vol.1 p.256])
The Plots of the Disbelievers against Islam and Muslims will Backfire
Allah (swt) says,
“Those who reject our ayaat, We shall gradually seize them with punishment in ways they percieve not. And I respite them certainly my scheme [kaydi] is strong” (al A’raaf 7:182)
“So if you (mushrikoon) repent it is better for you, but if you turn away, then know that you can not escape Allah. And give tidings of a painful torment for those who disbelieve.” (at Tawbah 9:3)
“And let not their wealth or their children dazzle you in reality Allah’s desire is to punish them with these things in the life of this world, and that their souls shall depart while they are disbelievers.” (at Tawbah 9:85)
“Verily, This (Quran) is the Word that separates. And it is not a thing for amusement. Verily they are but plotting (yakeedoona) a plot [kaydan]. And I am too planning a plan[wakeedu kaydan]. So give respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while.” (at Taariq 86:13-17)
“Like those before you, they were mightier than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion awhile, so enjoy your portion a while and you indulged in play and pastime as they indulged in play and pastime. Such are they whose actions are in vain in this world and in the hereafter. Such are they who are the losers. Has not the story reached them of those before them? The people of Nuh, A’d and Thamood, the people of Ibraheem, the dwellers of Madyan and the cities overthrown (such as he people of Loot[a.s.]), to them came their messengers with clear proofs. So it was not Allah Who wronged them, but they used to wrong themselves.” (at Tawbah 9:69-70)
“Do then those who devise evil plots [makaroo sayyi’ati] feel secure that Allah will not sink them into the earth or that the torment will not seize them from directions they pecieve not? Or that He may catch them in the midst of their going to and fro so that there be no escape for them? Or that He may catch them with gradual wasting. Truly! Your Lord is Ra’oofun Raheem. Have they not observed things that Allah has created, their shadows incline to the right and to the left, making prostration to Allah and they are lowly? And to Allah prostrates all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, of the live moving creatures and the angels and they are not proud. They fear their Lord above them and they do what they are commanded.” (an Nahl 16:45-50)
“Then leave Me alone with such as belie this Quran. We shall punish them gradually from directions they percieve not. And I will grant them a respite. Verily My scheme [kaydi] is strong.” (al Qalam 68:44-45)
“This (is the fact) and surely, Allah weakens the plots [kaydi] of the disbelievers” (al Anfaal 8:18)
“To Fira’wn, Haman and Qaaroon but they called (him): ‘A sorcerer a liar’ Then when he brought them the Truth from Us, they said: ‘Kill the sons of those who believe with him and let their women live’ but the plots [kayd] of disbelievers are nothing but errors!’” (Ghaafir 40:24-25)
“Or do they intend a plot [kaydan] [against you O Muhammad]? But those who disbelieve are themselves in a plot [makeedoon]” (at Toor 52:42)
“And thus We have set up in every town great ones of its wicked people to plot [liyamkuroo] therein. But they plot [yamkuroona] not except against their ownselves and they percieve it not.” (al Ana’m 6:123)
“Did they then feel secure gainst the Plan of Allah [makrallaahi]? None feels secure from the Plan of Allah [makrallaahi] except the people who are lost. Is it not clear to those who inherit the earth in succession from its possessors that had We willed, We would have punished them for their sins. And We seal up their hearts so that they hear not? Those were the towns whose story We relate unto you.And there came indeed to them their Messengers with clear proofs but they were not such as to believe in that which they had rejected before. Thus Allah does seal up the hearts of the disbelievers.” (al A’raaf 7:99-101)
“Their arrogance in the land and their plotting of evil [makras sayyi’i]. But the evil plot [al makrus sayyu’] encompasses only him who makes it. Then, can they expect anything (else) but the Sunnah of the Peoples of old? So no change will you find in Allah’s Sunnah and no turning off will you find in Allah’s Sunnah.” (Faatir 35:43) |
